Mainichi
boundless fog
from the other shore returns
only the carrier
brouillard infini
il revient seul de l'autre rivage
le passeur
bezgraniczna mgła
z drugiego brzegu wraca
tylko przewoźnik
végtelen köd
a túlpartról egyedül tér vissza
a révész
亡き兄の 霞の果てに 消えしまま

Would "ferryman" work in place of "carrier" in the English?
OdpowiedzUsuńHi Bill
UsuńI was thinking about a ferryman and I considered a boatman, too. I decided to use carrier, this word works perfectly in Polish, French and Hungarian. Let my haiku differs from others thanks to this word.
All the best. Iris
Explanations clearly make the understood.
OdpowiedzUsuń__Nice, Iris!. _m
Thank you very much, Magyar.
UsuńShould I add that this is the very personal elegy haiku that I wrote after my brother's death.
Best wishes. Iris
